I've Been In Your Shoes
I know what it's like to build something from nothing, worry about making payroll, and face the pressure of convincing skeptical executives to invest in cybersecurity while customers are demanding proof of your security posture.
That's because before I became a cybersecurity consultant, I was an entrepreneur who founded Bangladesh's second Internet Service Provider. I built it from one server and three dial-up modems to a publicly-traded company. I've lived through the sleepless nights, budget constraints, and the constant question: "How do we grow while staying secure?"
The Cybersecurity Consultant Who Actually Understands Business
My name is Nawab Kabir, and I help growing B2B technology companies transform cybersecurity from a sales barrier into a competitive advantage.
Unlike consultants who've only worked at large corporations, I understand what it means to justify every dollar spent while trying to satisfy customer security requirements that seem impossible to meet. I've been the IT leader who gets pulled into urgent sales calls to answer security questions. I've been the executive trying to balance growth with risk.
Classroom-Tested, Business-Proven Strategies
Today, I bring a unique perspective to cybersecurity consulting. I'm not just a practitioner—I'm also a cybersecurity professor at Fanshawe College, where I teach the next generation of security professionals. This means my strategies are constantly tested and refined both in the classroom and in real-world client environments.
When I recommend a security control or compliance framework, it's not just theory. It's been proven to work for companies just like yours.
Results That Speak for Themselves
Over my 28+ years in IT and cybersecurity, I've helped companies achieve remarkable outcomes:
-
$8.5 million contract won by achieving ISO 27001 certification in just 5 months
-
Security costs reduced by 45% while improving effectiveness
-
Deal closing time cut by 13% through strategic security questionnaire responses
-
Phishing click rates reduced by 18% through engaging security awareness training
-
Critical vulnerability fix time reduced from 2-4 weeks to 3 days
But more importantly, I've helped IT leaders stop being the bottleneck in their company's growth and start being the strategic partner that enables it.
From Global Corporations to Growing Startups
My career has taken me from managing mission-critical systems at JPMorgan Chase to leading cybersecurity for international technology companies like Afilias. I've worked across multiple countries, managed teams on three continents, and secured everything from banking applications processing millions of transactions to domain name registries serving billions of internet users.
This global experience gives me perspective on cybersecurity challenges across different regulatory environments, company sizes, and growth stages. Whether you're a 50-person startup or a 250-person scale-up, I've seen what works and what doesn't.
The Professor Who Practices What He Teaches
At Fanshawe College, I teach courses on:
-
Cybersecurity Fundamentals
-
Auditing & Security Controls
-
Evolving Technologies & Threats
This isn't just another credential. It's how I stay current with emerging threats and validate that my consulting strategies work in both theory and practice. My students learn from real client challenges, and my clients benefit from cutting-edge research and thinking.
Why I Do This Work
After founding a company, managing enterprise IT operations, and leading cybersecurity for global organizations, I could have chosen many paths. I chose consulting because I saw too many growing companies struggling with the same challenges I once faced.
You shouldn't have to choose between growth and security. You shouldn't have to become a cybersecurity expert overnight. And you definitely shouldn't have to lose deals because you can't confidently answer security questions.
My Approach: Education Over Dependency
I don't believe in creating dependency. My goal is to teach you and your team to solve problems, not just to solve them for you. When our engagement ends, you'll have the knowledge, processes, and confidence to continue building your security program.
This educational approach comes from my professor background, but it's also just good business. The best consulting relationships are the ones that make you stronger, not more dependent.

Beyond the Resume
When I'm not helping clients or teaching, I'm giving back to the community as a Peer Mentor with Cyber Security Non-Profit and as an Arrive Ambassador helping newcomers to Canada navigate their new lives. I also organize monthly meetup of Cyber Hive YXU, a community for information security professionals and students based on London, Ontario and surrounding area.
I believe cybersecurity is ultimately about protecting what matters most, whether that's customer data, business reputation, or the dreams you've built your company around.
